Building a Scalable Multi-AZ Application for Olive and Olive MultiServices
   ## About the Company

Olive and Olive Multi-Services is a Nigerian distributor of leading food, household, and personal care products, including Honeywell, Golden Penny, Dangote, PZ, Molfix, Femina, Lady Care, and Euro Mega. The company leverages information and communication technology to maximise operational efficiency and deliver value across its distribution network.

Customer Challenge

As Olive and Olive continued to expand, the company required a highly distributed and secure digital platform that could handle workloads. At the same time, it was important to prioritise security best practices and ensure that the application remained highly performant even during peak usage.

Partner’s Solution

Digitspot, an AWS Advanced Partner, partnered with Olive and Olive to design and deploy a scalable, secure, and reliable application infrastructure. To achieve this, we implemented an Application Load Balancer across two availability zones, ensuring that traffic was distributed efficiently while health checks provided system safeguards. Amazon ECS Fargate was introduced to handle automatic scaling, enabling the application to adapt seamlessly to traffic fluctuations. For data management, Amazon RDS was configured with encryption both in transit and at rest, supported by automatic key rotation, while Amazon S3 buckets were secured with encryption and versioning to protect data. To ensure zero downtime, we deployed a Multi-AZ architecture that maintained availability even during periods of heavy traffic. Security was further strengthened by implementing AWS WAF to detect and block malicious requests, isolating critical workloads within private subnets, and applying security groups to enforce the principle of least privilege.

Results and Benefits

Through this collaboration, Olive and Olive achieved a highly reliable and secure multi-AZ application with 99.9% uptime. The new platform not only provides scalability and resilience but also ensures strong data protection, operational excellence, and long-term performance for the company’s growing needs.
