FoodDash's shared AWS infrastructure supporting all four platforms faced significant availability and data protection challenges due to Lagos' unreliable power grid and frequent network disruptions. With customer transactions processing around the clock and seasonal agricultural data requiring strict retention policies, the company's existing backup processes were manual and inconsistent, with recovery time objectives exceeding 8 hours during critical incidents.
