Modernising Africa Prudential's Investor Services Platform with Cloud-Native Architecture

About the Company

With over 50 years of experience, Africa Prudential is one of Nigeria's most established share registration and business support service companies. The company plays a key role in the Nigerian capital market by providing secure, reliable, and technology-driven investor services, while continuously improving how organisations manage their shareholder base and streamline operations.

Customer Challenge

As digital engagement increased across the capital market, Africa Prudential experienced a sharp rise in activity on its Self-Service Investor Portal. During dividend declaration periods, investor traffic increased by over 500%, placing significant strain on its on-premises infrastructure. This resulted in performance slowdowns and service interruptions at critical moments when investors required immediate access to dividend and portfolio information.

The existing monolithic application, running on IIS, was difficult to scale and maintain. Infrastructure provisioning was slow, deployments took up to 45 minutes, and updates required scheduled downtime. These limitations made it challenging to maintain service availability and respond quickly to operational demands.

Partner's Solution

Digitspot partnered with Africa Prudential to modernise its investor services platform using a cloud-native approach on AWS. The legacy monolithic system was re-architected into domain-driven microservices and containerised using Docker, allowing individual services to scale independently based on demand.

Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) was used to orchestrate the container workloads, enabling automated scaling and high availability across multiple AWS Availability Zones. To improve deployment efficiency and eliminate downtime, a GitOps deployment model using ArgoCD was implemented, allowing changes pushed to Git to be automatically and safely deployed to the production environment.

Results and Benefits

The modernised platform delivered improved resilience, scalability, and operational efficiency. Africa Prudential successfully handled the 2025 year-end dividend season with 99.95% uptime and no service disruption. Infrastructure costs were reduced by 30% through better resource utilisation and a shift to an operational expenditure model.

Deployment cycles improved significantly, moving from monthly releases to weekly updates, enabling faster innovation and quicker response to business needs. Investors now benefit from consistent, real-time access to services even during periods of peak demand.
